My take on Sartar's wall-raising tricks is that Sartar was a 'son' of Ernalda and Orlanth. He had mastery of the motion rune and was associated with the Earth rune.
He propably was a Gnome Brother Hero in addition to Lightbringer Hero. If i remember correctly from KoS he turned some bandits into _copper_ mules (turning life-takers into life-servers), which points to an Earth-connection.
