I am new to this but.....
I imagine that illumination is probably viewed the same way as the Masons
are in British society. As well as maintaining an elite power structure,
they can ensure all applicants for high office, are of 'the right sort'.
Thus maintaining the Status Quo. If a bright young (but non illuminate)
administrator has been passed over for promotion again, he is not to know
why, as he cannot tell who around him is Illuminated or not.
