Andrew Behan says:

>The myth involves enconters with Trickster, Zorak Zoran and a Chaos Monster so
>the clan kidnap a drunk, a trollkin and a Teelo Nori initiate. The returns are
>lower than on a full-on HQ things are less likely to go wrong. The Yelmalians
>in Cults of Prax do this to Biturian Varosh.

I think that low level heroquests can be done in the same was as was done by the Yelmalians, but a more potent version would involve the players being led on a god quest reinactment but perhaps not being aware of it until it is too late. So a god would take favoured initiates and guide them ,ever so subtly, through a series of encounters that were appropriate. At the end the prize for this would be substantial, automatic acceptance to Rune level, the presentation with a magical cult weapon etc.

I would also like to think that in the minor hero quests where there is no risk, i.e. Trolkin, alcoholic and Lunar filing Clerk then also there would be no gain, in fact I believe that it could harm you by belittling the original quest.
