Not to add any more wood to the fire but don't forget that the Romans did
beat the Germans and other barbarians on more than a few occasions even
though they were smaller and weaker than their opponents. Discipline and
training count for a lot. Besides there's no reason not to expect that the
Esrolians have been selecting for size and strength for generations. Like
that episode of Star Trek the Next Generation where the women were the
larger of the two sexes.
