A brilliant retort on Martin's very well-written take. I tend to side with Brian for the vast majority of Kethaelan Humakti: honourable, noble, and uneffective. (After all, Onslaught still is around...)
A lot of them are duelists from the cities, whose honour is somewhat flexible when it comes to fairly matched duels - yes, these are more efficient (at least in their field of specialisation), but still they tend to behave irrational and can be tricked easily. That's a Humakti article of faith, isn't it? Humakt, Keeper of Death, and Eurmal...
