In Orlanthi Society and God Learner Prosopaedias, yes she is the avenging goddess. IMO She is not the Goddess of Rape Victims as she does not have any special myth opposing Thed the goddess of Rape or Ragnaglar.

However in Esrolia, she is fitted among the theogyny and the sequence goes something like: Voria, Babeester Gor, Ernalda, Maran Gor, Asrelia and Ty Kora Tek. Voria is the child, Ernalda the mother and Asrelia the Grandmother. Now given that Ty Kora Tek is the Crone, we start to see a reason for the sequence. As Babeester Gor lies between Voria and Ernalda, it follows that she represents adolescence and the associated turmoil as teenaged girls struggle to cope with growing pains (ie vindictiveness, temper tantrums etc). This has been modified over time to provide the Esrolites with a female fighting cult. This theory of her origins gives a more interesting picture of BG then the common view of her as a Grim Axe Maiden as it is too much like a Female Humakt IMO.

As an afterthought this sequence should make Maran Gor the Widow rather than the Misandrist Spinster. However it should be remembered that the Earth Shaker Cult is actually based in Kero Fin rather than Esrolia. I think that the Earthshaker Cult has subsumed whatever Widow cult originally existed in Esrolia.

I think Dendara is still regarded as an Earth Goddess. She's only recognized as a Sky Goddess in the Darsen Hills. I think the change in her status came about because Dara Happa grew more patriachal over time and liked passive women (witness Plentonius's identification of Dendara at III-2 as opposed to the more logical one at II-1 on the Gods Wall).
