Garry Nixon talks about the Border Rievers. David Hackett Fischer, in his brilliant book about the settlement of America: "Albion's Seed," has the Border people as one of the four main settlement groups in colonial America -- along with Puritans, Quakers, and Cavaliers. It is an

extremely long and very fascinating work, which covers all aspects of the four cultures, from birth, sex, death, property, violence, etc. It turns out that many of the most violent parts of American society, and its most violent people, are a result of the Border society influence. Many more Border people and their descendants live in North America than in Great Britain, by the way. Jim Chapin
