The Spear is the Fire Weapon because Lodril first came to Earth in the form of a Spear, and because Lodril is often considered to be a Spear in cultures which have no use for him as god of peasants. In addition, the Shanassae were seen to carry holy spears in the Gods War. The Bow is the Fire Weapon because in a weapon-making contest between Yelm and Orlanth, Yelm created the Bow, and Orlanth the Sword (Yelm was adjudged the victor).
The Flail as the Water Weapon appears to have been a Brithini invention.
The Club as the darkness weapon seems to have resulted from the troll preference for this type of crude armament.
