>> Bonus question: Why did Ettiko's horse have wings?
>Most likely, it's because the Troll should have ripped the horse's wings
off:
Since the questers defeated the Troll, this (temporarily/mythically)
"didn't happen"
for them, then. Of course, when they came down from their heroquest, she was
(mostly) back to normal.
Bingo. Must have been too easy... but look!
<< You've won a free rescue Akita! 100 pounds of squirrel-chasing, fur-shedding canine! >>
Awww, shucks. You seem to be from one of those paranoid countries with a
rabies quarantine.
As a consolation prize, you'll have to do with being slurped by one next
summer.
>Theoretically, I suppose this could be an end-of-the-Second-Age
manifestation of
the same "reconstruction of Hippogriff" which happens again at the end of
the
Third Age among the good ol' Char-Un (with their new- and old-fangled
flying,
fire-breathing, carnivorous, fanged-and-clawed, etc. steeds). The local
dominance of the powers of Fire and Sky after completion of the Hill of Gold
battle might well cause such effects, IMHO. Or might it also be something to
do
with the form of Yu-Kargzant, the Sun Horse?
Other good ideas - maybe Ettiko will start exploring the possibilities of recreating Hippogriff ahead of schedule...
