> And only you, Peter, treat the Gods Wall as a source of reliable
>astronomical observations.

I know you don't but when did you start speaking for the others?

>Its a drawing of gods, some of whom are just standing there, some of who
>are playing out little stories, and some of whom have planet symbols on
>their heads. It seems pretty reasonable that they might throw in symbols
>for planets that they had seen but that weren't around anymore
>(particularly in the case of the ten planets, which even if they had
>disappeared they would still put in for the Yelmic ideal).

It depends when the Gods Wall was created. Because there is no Crooked Neck (Storm) Rune, an Artia Rune or even an Uleria Rune (all were planets that appeared later on), then it follows that the Gods Wall must have been crafted before this. You can't say that because the latter were evil dieties they were not acknowleged because this is confuted by the presence of the Lower 25 on the Wall who are more Evil than Uleria.

It may seem 'reasonable' to you that they throw in planets that weren't around any more, but the wall is a descriptive representation of the Cosmos. However little boys are going to shout 'The Emperor has no credibility' if he starts adding extinct planets and/or fictitious planets when they can see that none was around at his coronation. Sculptures like these are built to impress his subjects _at_ _the_ _time_, not bullshit about a Yelmic Ideal for future generations.

>Your theory is interesting, but relying as it does on an extremely
>literal interpretation of the Gods Wall I remain unconvinced.

I like this 'extremely literal interpretation' as grounds for remaining unconvinced. However I find it best to approach documents from the mindset of what people at the time thought it meant not what future generations may think it means. A good RW parallel is the use by St. Matthew of many phrases in the Jewish canon as prophetic evidence of the coming Messiah. The Red Goddess has undergone several transforming events and as far as we know has no direct memory of her 'past incarnations'. It's not really her purpose in life; she strives for the Transcendant Realm, not to get total recall. Any suitable figure in the remote past is _fair_ _game_ for her purposes. That is why I am highly sceptical of the truth value of your lunar theory of prehistoric Peloria.

SP>>> Ultimately, the God Learners fell because their entire

Me>>Was this lie the Forbidden Secret or what?

>By Orlanth Peter I thought you invented the God Learner secret or at
>least discovered through 1000% Glorantha Knowledge.

1000% glorantha lore? That explains it. I was looking at the rules for the skill the other day and it said that if I tried to guess the forbidden secret then I get 1 secret for every 100 percentiles I have. Now I have 10 Forbidden Secrets and I don't know which one was the one that the God Learners knew :(
