>The concept I was trying to get across was that the Lunar Way is

       I think it is both.

And as a result being forced to rediscover the ways of the old. Perhaps some of it unintentionally. Certainly the 7 Mothers were pretty surprised by what happens. Using other peoples hero paths (even ones that haven't been used for a thousand years) can work, but can also produce all sorts of surprises. Once you start on a half understood path, you could end up anywhere. The Lunars are not God Learners. But they are creative heroquesters nevertheless. Re-discovery of the old myths is an important part of the Lunar style of heroquesting, but they also do a lot of reinterpretation.

which I think applies in this case. I think the Lunars/ The Red Goddess are both re-discovering, and creating anew various connections. We differ on which is which. The main sticking point is that I believe that the Veritherusa->Sedenya (red) -> Lesilla (blue) -> Gerra (human) is re-discovery, of a moon religion that was an important Pelorian religion once (until Lukarius wiped it out), and the heavenly events they reported were true. I think the connections between this moon religion and Nysalor, for example, is probably a path the Lunars invented (well, there was a sort of connection there, but the Lunars made it much more than it was).

>This would
>have been an acceptable lunar belief, but when it's swallowed somewhat
>uncritically in theories trying to explain the meaning of the Red Moon,

I thought we were still argueing over what the historical (sky) events were, not their meaning. The meaning is a different question entirely. The Lunar moon story is definately true for the Red Moon - because that is the heroquest path the Red Goddess was thinking of when she made the moon. Others interpret it differently, but they would interpret the Lunar moon story differently as well.

        Cheers
