 Hi all,

Lunar army

I think that each officer in the lunar army has a crimson sash to mark his status as a lunar officer.
It is an old Darra Happan tradition (they were golden sash then) to have the officers show a leadership symbol.
The Carmanians adopted this method with their own colours (black or white)

After Jannisor's demise, all the standard in the lunar army had a crimson strip (sp?) on their top, to identify them as lunar.
During a battle the crater makers let go their magic on a lunar peltast regiment because they did confuse them with an ennemy regiment.
It was done to avoid friendly fire casualties.

Boys I am lost

I'll be on the move soon, so I have to decline Sandy's offer.

Now about the supplements.
I say that Glorantha:Genertela, Gods of Glorantha and Elder Secrets are very useful to understand Glorantha.

Yelm

In Sun County Yelmalio is NOT the sun. He is the sky dome. He is the fact that there is light even when the sun is hidden by clouds or by buildings or by trees. He is the son of Yelm in the same way that Athena is the daughter of Zeus.

I think that Yelorna divine role is to allow the stars to shine at night. She pierced Xentha's mantle to build a way for the sky deities through the night.

In my opinion, what is said about Yelmalio in KoS is an orlanthi point of view. A similar situation would arise if a Dara Happan hapenned to write a book and descibe the cult of Orlanth (ie many errors).

I have only the Yelm writeup.
Nothing forbid a priest of an associate cult to become a member in Yelm the Elder. All his children may then become initiates in the Yelm cult.
They cannot hope to become Yelm Imperator since they are not nobles.
Even one such case by generation means that many thousands Yelm worshipers are not nobles.

Officer in the French armies.
Before the revolution, only noble could become officers in the army or the navy.
In time of war, since the officer were in the first line, they were casualties. Often there were not enough noble left to replace all the killed or maimed, so the king commissioned nobly living men (ie rich) as officer.

In my opinion, even conservative Dara Happa used a similar system.
Peace
