Secrecy and cult power

Since I developed (in my O.A. Explorer series) my odd belief that freedom lies in ignorance, I would argue for a linked view that the big strong cults with widely known systems of belief have "fixed" those beliefs into the cosmos. But their ability to act further is greatly restricted -- that is the meaning of the Compromise. Small cults with lots of secret info (Krarsht is the perfect example) have a lot more freedom but do not have their beliefs so firmly fixed into the cosmos. The Lunars by having so many and so complicated beliefs and so many secrets are trying to leave themselves freedom to operate while still being very powerful -- a classic attempt to square the circle! Nick B. would argue that they succeed at this task -- I that they meet the same fate as the GodLearners . . .
