Kralorelan Cult of the Void

The Void is that from which all arose and to which all must return to escape the cycle of death and rebirth. In the beginning was the Void. Chaos is the Void, but the Void is not Chaos. All else is vanity and self-deceit. Like Chaos out of Chaos, Cosmic Dragon sprang from the Void. Cosmic Dragon and all his issue are vanity and self-deceit. The true self is Void. There is no Other.

To be initiated, the mystic must have a positive mysticism percentage, forswear all other cult ties, and commit himself to the service of a Master of the Void (see below) for one year culminating in a Worship Void ceremony in which he sacrifices a point of POW to the Void and meditates hoping to achieve the needed personal mystic insight (abstracted by a roll under his mysticism percentage). If he fails he need not spend another year serving the Master, but may continue seeking the necessary insight through meditation. Each 700 hours of meditation allows another roll.

The new mystic of the Void has experienced the ultimate void personally and directly. he sees clearly that the efforts of Cosmic Dragon mystics are vanity and self-deceit. The typical mystic of the Void is a hermit. He seeks enlightenment by his total presence in each moment, more concerned with being than with action. Such existence is equal to time in a monastery or temple for the purpose of increasing the mysticism percentage.

Mystic’s of the Void are generally shunned (or at best tolerated) by other Kralorelan citizens. By not taking part in the traditional Kralorelan worship (and other rituals), they fail to support the very fabric of perfect Kralorelan society. By denying the Emporer and exarchs their power, they deny the people the benefits such worship brings. Outside of Kralorela, this philosophy is misunderstood to be a cult of Chaos.

This quest for enlightenment has incidental benefits. Each time the mysticism percentage increases to a multiple of 5%, he may sacrifice 1 point POW for a chance (equal to his new mysticism percentage) to gain another mystic insight. These insights enable the mystic to manifest power in the world (in the form of a non-ritual sorcery spell). The particular spell learned should be chosen by the referee since the budding mystic is at the mercy of serendipity in gaining these insights. Mystics of the Void know this to be true dragon magic, such as Cosmic Dragon used to navigate the Void. The spell effects occur on SR1.

The chance of casting each spell is equal to the mysticism percentage and may be increased by ceremony just as for sorcery (actually meditative preparation). The mystic has, in effect, a Free INT equal to 1/10 his mysticism percentage (round all fractions up). The effect may be manipulated in intensity, range, duration, and multiple uses within the limits of this Free INT. In effect, a mystic with a 32% in mysticism who has discovered the power of Telepathy may spend up to 4 MPs on Telepathy with a Free INT of 4 and a 32% chance of success which may be increased by ceremonial (meditative) preparation. He could cast a Telepathy 4; or a Telepathy 2, range 2, or a Telepathy 1, range 1, duration 2; or two Telepathy 2’s; etc.

Upon reaching 90% in mysticism, the mystic no longer rolls for mystic insights. Rather, each Sacred Time, he may choose a sorcery spell to gain insight into. He must still sacrifice a point of POW to gain the insight.

Mystics who have achieved the appropriate degree of knowledge (90% in Ceremony and 90% in Mysticism) may learn Worship Void as a mystic power of the Ceremony skill, such mystics are known as Masters of the Void.
