Carthage & baby-killing

Ian Gorlick is behind the curve here. The 19th century historians bought into the baby-kiling, then the "revisionists" revised it, then the archeologists in the last decade dug up the evidence that it was TRUE. It was funny to watch all the pro-Carthaginian historians trying to deal with it; after all, they LIKED Hannibal, etc. which is why they were studying the topic.
On the basis of attending the Denver Museum's big Aztec exhibit in 1995, based on the most recent research on that field, the numbers of dead that the Aztecs racked up was quite astounding. That's part of the reason that so many of the other tribes allied with the Spanish. The huge model of the Aztec temples was great, complete with a giant red smear down the center steps, hundreds of feet. How about THAT for some great MGF detail? Jim Chapin
