There is a Pelorian myth given in the Entekosiad involing a contest between some goddesses and a 'serpent'. One of the goddesses, Provaria the Virgin, is stabbed and left bleeding as a result of the contest and so all women bleed for beyond a certain age (likewise the goddess corresponding to childhood ran away from battle thus kids don't have sex. The goddess of old age had her back broken by the serpent etc). A variation of this can easily be transported to Orlanthi cultures with their earth goddesses and dragons.
