I, like you, have spent an inordinate amount of time developing (rules) systems for RPGs & wargames. However, I am quite in favour of the "roolz" spelling especially when it is used to describe a mechanism that inhibits roleplaying or is an unrepresentative protrayal of the game-world.
Good rules should be virtually transparent, bad roolz are over complicated and especially bad ROOLZ don't represent the game-world and encourage the heinous sin of roolplaying.
As for you comments on manners and courtesy, I totally agree. People should be polite even when they disagree with another poster.
Cheers
Lewis
