Sandy is obviously too modest to mention the best example: Argan Argar, the Son of Night, dominated the Earth Queendom of Esrolia throughout the Great Darkness. His son by the Goddess Esrola, the Only Old One, continued this: he held Esrolia within his leaden clutches for all of the First and Second Ages as part of the Shadowlands. This is one of the reasons why Esrolia appears more "backward" than other Orlanthi lands: they'd been living in something of a Dark Age until the Pharaoh came along. :-)
