Bwa ha ha. Another victim falls to my snare.

(From my latest version.) A peasant, knight, or lord can learn none of the vows. An individual who has no Vows can cast a single sorcery spell. The total Intensity (assuming he knows Intensity at all) cannot exceed his skill in the spell divided by 10. When a temporal spell is cast, the user can maintain it, despite his lack of any Presence. However, the moment he casts another sorcery spell, his maintained spell vanishes. Hence, he can have only a single spell (of his own) in effect at a single time.

EXAMPLE: A Rokari peasant knows Intensity and Bless Plow 71%. He can cast Bless Plow with up to 8 MPs of Intensity. If his daughter asks him to use his Fly spell to dislodge a ball trapped in a tree, he can do so, casting a Fly 1, but the moment he casts the Fly, his plow loses its Blessing.

It is my opinion that this restriction renders non-magicians in a sorcerous society appropriately competitive with theistic barbarians -- a Rokari farmer's magic is _still_ inferior to an Orlanthi freeholder's, but not so vastly lesser that the Rokari as a whole are clearly inferior. In addition, there is the added bonus that the Rokari farmer magic now seems very different from the Orlanthi's.

>Do starting Rokari characters have to spend 2 POW for intensity? 1
>to get Malkion as a saint, and 1 to invoke for Intensity?

Do they _have_ to do so? No. But they do if they want to know Intensity. Rokari lacking Intensity can only put 1 MP into a spell (and it behaves as a single point of Intensity).

On the good side, remember that for every 5 years of obedient service, previous experience generously grants the peasant a point of POW. What better way to expend it than in honoring Good Saint Malkion?

>Do the sacrifice Stat vows reduce the current stat, or the

Current. In the one exception (POW), I explicitly state that species-maximum is reduced. For all the others, it is current.

>Is there a vow for DEX sacrifice?

You are welcome to add one, if you like. I left out an INT and DEX sacrifice, because these two stats affect the Magic Skill Category Bonus, and I thought that reducing these stats was uncommon among Malkioni cultures. If you disagree, add them freely. I realize that I do include Sacrifice POW, but at least it doesn't reduce current POW.

>What 'classes' of spells are there in regards to specializing?

I'm not sure what you mean. My goal was for specialists to receive increased utility of a few obviously related spells. I consciously refrained from giving them increased access to spells that were merely "useful", but not directly related to the specialty. For instance, though a Monitor would find defensive spells highly useful, these didn't seem like "mental" spells to me, so I didn't grant them to him.
