A very good friend of mine mentioned just the other day that apparently
Christianity has a patron saint of childbirth, one Saint Margaret (I
think). Pregnant women in the middle ages often invoked her and placed
images of her in their bedrooms to ensure safe pregnancy and delivery.
Saint Margaret was reputedly swallowed by a dragon and then cut her way out
(obviously referring to the cesarian section).
So perhaps those poor helpless women in the West of Genertela do have
someone they can call on for aid...
