 Hi all

+ Elmal/Yelmalio

As I see it, at the Dawn the myths about Elemalus were unclear about his relationship with Orlanth.
The coming of Arkat and his conversion to Zorak Zoran forced a distinction between the two cults.

In the south, they worship Orlanth's loyal thane who gave his best weapons as gift for his lord when he began the lightbringer quest. Because of his generosity he was beaten by Zorak Zoran, he nearly was frozen by Inora and barely survived the chaos parasites.
In the north they worship Yelm's faithful son whose weapons were robbed by Orlanth, who was beaten by Zorak Zoran, who was frozen by Inora and who barely survived the chaos parasites.

As always Dragon Pass is the place where people meet and often where they fight. This theory may explain the bitterness of the civil war about who are Elmal and Yelmalio.

As a side note, I think that the pigmy counts of the Sun Dome temple in Prax came from the ostrich nation (who IMO worships Yelmalio). Unfortunately, the Sun County scholars who did researches on the ostrich nation's religion had to do their training period as salt miners by order of Count Solanthos.
It is too bad that the craft of salt miner takes more than one lifetime to master.

A common barracks joke in the Sun Dome temples:  trooper : What woman is the sergeant's mother?  file leader : Like our lord Yelmalio, he has none. When    the Count needs a sergeant, he pray to our lord and a new one    comes.
(any similitude with starship troopers is intentional)

+Lodril

Joerg wrote about Lodril in Caladraland. I think that Lodril is seen as the father of the volcanoes and not always as the volcano itself.
In Caladraland, even at the Dawn, the Vent deity (later called Caladra) was always Lodril's child. At least, it explains why the God Learners were so successful with the cult of Caladra and Aurelion.

I think too that the Lodril cult described in White Wolf has elements of both the Pelorian and the Caladraland cults. In those region Monster Man, the dark aspect of Lodril is suppressed because it is too dangerous either to the nobility or to the society. I think that in Teshnos, Solf is the Lodril equivalent and that Calyz is Monster Man's equivalent. Calyz worship does not pose a threat to the society since it is guided by Zytro Argon (Dayzatar) worshipers who are able to ensure the purity of the land.

	Peace
		Jean
