ULERIA
Thomas Doniol-Valcroze:

> IMO, they think their [Ulerians] work is more spiritual than physical, that
it is their duty to share the unique gift of love and pleasure with lonely souls..... I even think that some well-known Uleria priestresses may have some political influence, due to their relations with city officials.

I can support this.

>By the way, Seattle is a swell place. I have been there once. You can see
killer whales from the shore.

Well, I have to agree with you there. Do look us up if you ever visit again!

SUNLORDS
Peter Maranci asks how a sunlord might keep the "Remain celibate one week before combat" stricture. How
often would a Rune Lord know that he was going to be in combat next week?

Pretty easy. If he's at home, hanging out with his family, he probably won't have to fight. (If you were a sunlord, would you keep for family in a dangerous place?) Any fights he does incurr would probably be ritual combats, which would probably be planned long in advance.

Most fighting will be done while on campaign, where his wife usually isn't. So, there should be no problem. Right?;-)

Another way to deal with this is to have them engage in lots of ritual purifications, which is MGF.

BERN EEL / ARASHGERN
D Dunham:

>Hmm, so you think there's a connection between the Eel-ariash clan (of
Oronin) and BernEel Arashagern, who went to nearby Arir (I assume that's where Ariralves is; modern Doblian)?

Undoubtedly, if only that the family took the name of an ancient deity of their home area. Quite common in Peloria, I imagine. perhaps Bern Eel is an ancester for them?

>This would make BernEel Arashagern most likely the god of the Oronin River,
i.e. Pelanda (and if it's really spelled that way, it would be a Pelandan word).

I think it _is_ Pelandan. Bern Eel as a river is interesting... any ideas on Arashgern? That name sound more Dara Happan. Perhaps A. is Naverian?

YELM PIECES PARTS Nice post on Yelm's parts/Empires parts, Peter. Made a lot of sense, and eloquent, too!

>I place Bijiif in Darjiin because Plentonius describes him as the Rival which
bears to mind his fixation with Darjiin Upsurpers and also because of the doubled 'i'.

Yes - Harald Smith had thought this too, and asked Greg about it. But I think Greg said he wasn't at all sure that Bijiif was the Darjiian sun god - rather that Manimat was. But, Bijiif could be more of an underworld deity in Darjiian. Unless they think maybe that Bijiif is the underground sun that comes up during the day?

> Everinus is Naverian because he wears Naverian Dress on the wall.

I'll have to look. I'd thought of him as Naverian because of his link to sacrifice, an ancient Naverian tradition.

>The Plentonic innovation was to draw a correspodance between the six major
nations of Peloria and the six parts of the human body.

Quite neat.

>The Rinliddi were horse riders since the dawn. If you look at the
cavalry on the top right hand side of the GRAY cover (the arming of Khordavu) then you'll see they are wearing bird-like helmets.

Did not the Jenarong wipe out the augners, around the dawn? I'd assumed the Rhinliddic horses were drawn ca. 300ST.

Anyway, enough nitpicking. The innate justice of your article was proven by the pathetic nature of the questions I could raise against it...

Merry Christmas!
