I not sure if this will clash with Pam's reply, but doubt it Stephen.

Hyenas hunt large antelopes etc. They are if fact at least as much a preditor as lions! Jackals, who live in the same areas, hunt much smaller
prey and scavenge on the hyenas leavings.
