There seems to be a pretty general principle of Gloranthan physics - lot's of things, from simple enchanments to the Flame of Sartar, have built-in tests of fact that, considered physically, they have no means of verifying.

In other words, the Flame doesn't run round reading books on the genealogy of the Sartar royal house before lighting up for Kallyr - it just _knows_ what the truth is.

And, as all heroes from Argrath to Zzabur know, if you can create your own truth, you've got it made.
