Hi Malcolm -

> D) Sorana Tor is actually a priestess of another goddess. Ernalda or Kero
Fin
seem like likely candidates....That would make Sorana Tor the High Priestess of Ernalda,

Exactly. Maran Gor is an earth goddess, but not a fertile one. Throughout central Genertela, the earth goddess are often worshipped as a group. Woman at different life stages worship different goddesses. (The Orindanae cult of the Colymar view them as one great goddess with many aspects, but that is a mystery beyond most Glorantans. Sorana Tor may have held this view, but she wouldn't have had to.)

The group of earth goddesses worshipped in any given area can vary, but they all enclude Ernalda, the fertile mother. (Known as Oria in Peloria, Ralia in Ralios, etc). Most deistic cultures include at least three goddesses: maiden, mother, and crone. Some peoples, most notably the Esrolians and the Tarshites, acknowledge an additional malign triarchy of Babeetser Gor, Maran Gor, and Ty Kora Tek. Maran Gor wouldn't have her own cult in most Gloranthan societies - just a few desperate rights known by the high priestesses, never spoken of outside sacred circles.

Greg's Pelorian writings mention goddesses named Gorgorma and Haranagor, which are probably variants of Maran Gor, but I don't think they have many of her priestesses running about. Come to think of it, Dendara, the good wife in the Dara Happan solar pantheon, (an Ernalda analog), has Gorgorma as a sister. Gorgorma is sometimes considered the rebellious, avenging aspect of Dendara. This fits pretty well with te Ernalda/Maran Gor relationship in Tarsh.

Kero Fin is a sort of giant land spirit, the goddess of the mountain, and of Dragon Pass in general. (Again, one could view her as a part of the mega-earth godess.) She likely has no cult of her own, but there are probably shrines to her in a few places. Heck, after 1353, the Varmandi had one...
