Look at the Red and the Yellow Elves of Glorantha for an example.

However, just offspring of oneself isn't that interesting unless you go for intenal conflicts (Cherryh's "Cyteen"...). More interesting are simulacra of oneself, duplicate copies. Why go through all the hazards of childhood if you can get an adult at once? Best with the entire knowledge of the original?

The Red Emperor is known to have done this, and other "bad guys" have been accused of this practice as well.

And the EWF IMO practised the production of Dream Selfs by humans as well. Not exactly reproduction, but material projections of their leaders.
