As has been pointed out by several people, the Hill of Gold Heroquest, as described by Sandy, grants full immortality. After completing the heroquest, you can no longer be killed by having your head cut off, though you can be mightily inconvenienced.
Of course, completing the full heroquest, and living to see the dawn, is so hard that no one in living memory has done so, and when a Yelmalion talks about having 'completed' the Hill of Gold quest, what he normally means is having got halfway, survived the attack of Zorak Zoran, left the heroquest path at that point, and after the combat is over recovered a Fire Crystal, having not even attempted the progressively harder second half of the quest. Which is a success of sorts.
Cheers
David
