>a size 8 dwarf wielding a shield for some size 18 humans ...
>Can a dwarf use such a large shield ?

I'd say not! There are no human shields that cover all locations, so I'd think that implies some kind of relative limit on the size of a shield.

>In the first case, they will as a
>part of their family background have a infamous reputation. If your
>family is a certain way, everyone will expect you to be the same.

This is exactly the situation with my Humakti character, about whom a seemingly simple(!) ethical question sparked this whole infertility/insanity debate in the first place! A friend and I were generating characters for a new RQ game, and we both rolled practically identical stats, and both got Noble as our occupation. So we decided we were brothers. He and I both independently decided to join Storm Bull and Humakt respectively, and so a family reputaion was born ...

>In Taming of Dragon Pass, everyone AND I MEAN EVERYONE who is a member of
>a clan is initiated into either Orlanth or Ernalda. PERIOD.

This is also the case with my Humakti, he is an initiate of Orlanth Rex and Humakt. I believe that he should sever his family ties and Orlanth membership upon achieving Sword status, and this ritual severance should include protection from the Orlanth spirits of reprisal. Thoughts?

>In my ToDP game there are NO priestesses of Chalana Arroy wandering
>around Quiviniland. None. Period. End of Statement. There are a
>handful of initiates (I think three or four) who wander about and are
>considered great holy folk by the locals, but that is it!

The same seemed to be true in Simon Hibbs' RQ game, although we didn't stay around at home for long. The first scenario had the PCs running up and down stream looking for the source of an infection in our herds, and if there were CA acolytes around, they's have sorted it out themselves. BTW, welcome back to the Digest, Simon.

>Certainly, Argan Argar is a complex character with more to him than can be
>summed up in a "AA is ______," format. I couldn't agree more.

I had *great* fun running a brief RQ where one player was an AA troll trader. Two NPCs, brothers, human AA worshippers from Adari, turned up called Kroitzvelt and Yakov, and I characterised them with outrageous eastern-european accents. Although they never really did anything, the players were totally scared of them, and while inventing loads of conspiracy theories about them, all wrong, never dared raise a hand against them!

>At last Humakt fought Yanafal, but they fought each other to a
>standstill, even though Yanafal was aided by einherjar and Humakt was not

Wow, I'd never seen that before! Any relative of Ginna Jar?
