All myths may not include the Dawning, but all myths include the "I Fought We Won". So major changes are perceived differently by all cultures. They perceive the general substance of the change, though they give different explanations for it.

It seems to me that you are assuming that pre-Dawn Orlanthi rituals were the same sort of stuff as today's version. I would say, instead, that Orlanthi need rituals to tap into Orlanth's blessings after the Compromise has severed all non-worship forms of relationships with gods. In other words, mortals might not have been used to performing rituals to appease Orlanth before the Dawning: they just went to his stead and offered him their best cattle, receiving rain (or protection from hail) in exchange. That way, Orlanth surely was unavailable during the Darkness - he was away!

However, I agree with you on the subject of Orlanthi performing rituals to support Orlanth in the Underworld, just like heroes' followers strengthen them when they are on the Hero Plane. Maybe this is why rituals were invented: our god is away, let's try and help him as we can so that he can be back soon. Later, after Time had begun, the God started to send gifts back to worshipers through rituals in order to keep them performing them.

All this IMHO (and likely to be Gregged on the spot...)
