IMO;
1) High King Elf is the first-born child of Aldyra and GrandFather Mortal.
2) HKE went after Zorak Zoran and got clobbered. After he recovered, he
gave it up as a nigh impossible job, and decided to try to restore
Flamal instead.
3) Axes were not sacred weapons of Elves, they were sacred to Ernalda, one
of their forbearers....
4) Possible Heresy:
After HKE truned back from Rage and Death to Life and Growth (ZZ to Flamal), he was aided somewhere along the line by a god of Light. To replace the Ax he lost to ZZ, he took up the weapon of light, the bow. (The helpfull god was Yelmalio?)

Possibly the LightBringers did help Flamal somewhere along the line, as one of the misc deeds performed. But this sounds more like Thelayan propoganda to me, or a God_Learnerism; another attempt to link disparate myth structures..... You'd think the Aldryami would have some memory of an event this important.
