In Vietnam, local Vietcong cadres trapped trails and rice paddies around their villages leaving trail markers to indicate a trap was on a trail, and that villagers should look out, or more likely use the other trail to wherever.

An elf forest will be a veritable death trap. Traps sown throughout the forest. On the edge of the forest, special trap trails will lead nowhere except to prepared killing fields (Ed Tonrys' rose bushes would help prevent invaders leave the trail). Further towards the forest centre smart plants able to identify non-aldryami are more selective but just as deadly.

Elven traps are unlikely to be traps of the pit, deadfall, spiked log
variety, more the poison thorns, sentient vines, puffballs that throw
darts, virulent poison ivy and stinging nettles, etc etc. Their are
radical differences between the physiology of the elves and that of the other races allowing for a variety of poisons and diseases which will not harm elves or their allies.

As to those innocent forest creatures Its no problem for the aldryami to mix their traps with plants whose flowers or leaves will repel or alert the innocent.

The only problem would be those absent minded runners.

Thanks

Giles (Advocate for more dangerous forests)

P.S. Anyone got any more information on the Sartar tribes clan makeup other than that in KOS for the Colymar.
