So, do elves have special `spear plants' that grow spears for them?
Ever wondered where RW spears come from? Don't look much like a plank, do they?
The trick is coppicing: find a stand of fast, tall growing trees (ash and
hazel are best), they chop some down without killing them (don't know how they
do that). The stump will put forth shoots. The shoots will be atached to the
root system of a full-grown tree, so they will grow fast. The shoots will
grow towards the light, which will be only straight upwards (because you did
not fell the trees around it). Wait a few years, then cut the rods as you need
them.
