Aldrymi realize that sometimes they lose. A lore seed is a way to regain lost information, and sometimes ancestral information. So if it just reproduced and they all died, all would be lost. With lore seeds stored, then a survivor might be able to bring back ancestors, or other history once area was recovered.

My player has asked about Moonburn and if any lore seeds might have survived (him being in a "I did it once, I can do it again" mood). I have hinted there might be.
