On Arachne Solara's three major appearances in myth (the Ritual of
the Net,
the Spider's Promise, the Sunstop), she appeared in the form of a
spider.
Her other habits include eating her male partner after mating with
him...
and Greg's arm-tattoo of A.S. shows her in the classic "Cragspider"
form (a
spider's body with a woman's torso attached).
Maybe she's a spider.
Sounds good to me. As Greg pointed out on the Convulsion 1994 (as he
explained his tattoos, on the "Greg4s adress-panel", and if I remeber
correctly) this spider-woman-tattoo is the picture of one of the major
(or the major) "demons" that used to haunt him in his
childhood/adult-dreams and were one of the reasons of his major
breakdowns in life (or at least warning signs) .
Through his creative outlet "Glorantha" he learned to get along with
these demons and accept them as nesscessary parts of living, giving them
a place to exist (Glorantha?!).
If this spiderdemon plays an important part in Gregs real life it seems
also logically that this demon has a important/central place in
Glorantha (as does Arachne Solara).
Maybe this is the reason why Arachne Solara (sun spider?) is pictured as
a spider with a web that gives all creation in Glorantha an order as
Glorantha may give Gregs soul an order.
P.S.: On the back of the spidertattoo is shown a guitar?!?
