Peter Metcalfe give a fine overview of the boristi church in his comments about them. I agree with him in mostly every point, because I made up the description of the squids upon the discussion you mentioned.

You pointed out that you use them in your own fashion as unalighted socercers. I think this may work very well, especially if you use them for your needs in your campaign.

The boristi church was a united church in the time of the Gbaji wars, after this they got seperated from each other. They lost their central authority over 800 years ago and therefore the boristi have had a lot of changes in their church. One of these changes was the founding of the sect of Chaos monks. The only thing in which they agree is the matter that they all belief sin as chaotic.

In the description of the boristi church you will find all the spells they use (especially the shriven spell and some others special boristi spells). How the sin works as a chaotic thing etc.

But at least the idea of mine (and maybe peters) how the boristi church will work and what a kind of behavior they show in public and secret. There is no boristi who is like all other boristi, they act very different from each other. So everybody can use them as bad or good guys, as dangerous sorceres or as priest who wants to rescue the world from sin and Chaos.

cheers
