Hi all

+Owen Jones asked a question about Elmal/Yelmalio/Yelm

When Yelm became emperor, he collected sacred items. The moment he was crowned, rays burst from his eyes to call the gods of the land to his summon, and a link was established with the sky. The image is in The Glorious Reascent of Yelm, it is the God's Wall.
Let's call the rays, Yelmalio, and the cone that links the ball above Yelm's head to him Yelorna.

These two deities are children of Yelm like Ourania is Dayzatar's daughter or Athena is Zeus' child.

When the sun set, these deities remained behind.

For the solar, the sky dome (Yelmalio) is the mark that the divine order can whistand even winter, even the storm, because the emperor's brilliance can be seen even under clouds and even in the dead of winter.

For the Orlanthi, when Orlanth killed the Evil Emperor (Yelm in Dragon Pass, Malkion in Ralios, Artmal in Umathela) the sun set. But Orlanth became friend with the sky dome (Elmal). When he made the lightbringer quest, he let his loyal thane (Elmal) behind to guard his stead. As Jeff Richard pointed out, this allows an Orlanthi to look at the sky and to see a kinsman. Elmal is not the sun (ie the shining orb), he only ensures that the sun do its duty.

For the elves, Yelmalio is a defender (I think that plants die in total obscurity) while Yelm is a fertility/healer god (the plant grow in spring and summer when he is strong).

Elmal worshipers are acceptable for Troll rulers (the OOO in Esrolia springs to mind), while Yelmalio worshipers are not.

+In Nomad Gods, you have magical societies. What do the members in time of
peace, how do they live?
For the moment, I think that they form small clans. They live by hunting, and by raiding like the other tribes. And in time of war they are hired as magical specialists.
Does thi seem correct, or does someone have a better idea on this?

Peace
