Alex Ferguson is dubious about Daniel McCluskey's comments:
>> If you can see if somebody's full or pregnant, wouldn't you be
>> able to spot joints or previous injuries more effectively.
>I'm most dubious about this "remote ultrasound" idea. If Darksense
>worked like this, concealment of any sort from a troll would be
>impossible, which is something with large implications.

I too think Uz can tell if someone's preggers, or see previously broken bones. But I doubt that an opponent will stand there passively as the Uz peers at them from a few feet away -- any Uz trying to pull this _during_ a fight is going to get a bop in the snout. _Before_ a fight is a different matter -- so a troll probably has time to sense that Ms. Troll is pregnant in the pre-fight confrontation, but not to see that Mr. Adventurer has had his left arm broken twice in the three seconds before they jump each other.

Two quick Darksense notes:
* If a troll can see if someone's preggers, what can they tell about the babies? I'd always ruled that yon troll could "see" roughly how big the baby was (and deduce when it would be due, roughly), and how many there were (e.g.,if there were twins or not). A clever player has now pointed out that trolls should be able to tell if there's a litter of trollkin on the way, notifying the mother in time to abort. Any comments? I'm not sure when the Curse sets in, too -- at conception?

The second is that since trolls don't "sense" colors, they sense _textures_ (IMO), many humans won't have a clue how to camo themselves against trolls. If the materials are "off-texture" from the background, it'd stick out to the troll. Giving rise to all kinds of stories about Trolls who have amazing sensory powers, etc. Hard to learn to hide yourself not against _sight_, but against a weird sense that works in a slightly different way.

(Elves and Dwarves don't have the same problem -- they've got experience)

Chris Bell praises the Sartarite Bill of Rights
>Generally, the Sartarite protections of individual rights and the moral
>injunction that the rulers must serve the governed, as well as the
>general compassion and regard for non-combatants, the poor...

Fine as these things may be, it was always my perception that _only_ the members of Sartarite/Orlanthi society receive them, if at all. (Judging from the bit about Tricksters being out of society, and thus without any protection).

If I'm, say, a troll, and I wander into Sartar, someone will stick sharp pointy things in my PDQ unless I have an appropriate protector in society (a powerful buddy, a writ from the King for travel, etc.) or some weird claim that I belong (worship Orlanth, Storm Bull, Issaries, etc.). Others less feared (Kralorelans, Praxians, elves, etc) are still going to run into prejudice and descrimination.

Now the Lunars may be chaos-loving, form-stamping, tax-taking, red-wearing, bat-feeding Enemies of Orthodox Trolldom, but IMO I get a better shake in the Empire. Sure, I'll run into some prejudice, probably be cheated on prices, and the DX fellows suspect me if people get eaten. But on the other hand, the Lunars will probably forbid Dara Happan Yelm fanatics from lynching me. The same holds true for other nonhumans and foreign humans.

Just my $.02.
