Trolls, Darksense and birthing trollkin.

        In response to the Trolls, darksense and trollkin. Trolls are infertile enough that the abortion could endanger what little fertility the Mother has. (As someone else said the purification rites may be more ardous for a miscarrage/abortion then for trollkin.)

        If one wants a more scientific approach, perhaps trolls always have a litter but only one survives to term the rest being reabsorbed. Thus if trollkin have a shorter gestation time then darktrolls, one might not be able to tell the difference between a trollkin litter and a 'normal' birth before the mother goes into labor with the trollkin.
