(The interaction of Will and Passion in the Otherworld) I like that. I have been debating whether or not to adopt a Pendragon Pass-ish system for my game and this passion business my be the deciding factor. That and the draconic powers from Codex are easier to integrate in as well.

"They aren't destroyed, they could be reactivated but they no
longer have a priesthood capable of taking the actions that would restart their
worship."

This reminds me of the two imprisoned gods that you can come across, Firshalla in the Elder Wilds (Griffin Mountain) and Baroshi in Snake Pipe Hollow (Same). They bootstrap their finder into having the capability to tie them to the Mundane Plane so that they can receive worship. But, reading about a nifty "dead god" and then gaining power from it would need some questing deep into the Otherworld.

"The implication is often made that

a "subjective" Glorantha is a moral atrocity or an unplayable nightmare, but rarely gets backed up by any reasoned argument, or at least not one what takes makes account of what the other side is actually saying. If this all just comes down to a personal preference, fine and dandy."

I'm sorry, I thought I made this clear in my last post. Yes, it's a personal preference. Glorantha does function fine as a game world as it is, but it lacks a certain structure that I desire. I supply this structure for my games.

"What my concern is, though, is the apparent wish to establish some sort
of before-the-fact criteria that only things which _can_ be so reconciled become part of the Gloranthan Canon (and I suspect that not even the self-proclaimed Objectivists would agree what sort of reconciliation is possible or desirable)."

In this case you are correct in your suspicions. If it were so I would have  a lot less to be contentious about . :)

"Some people seem to think the "subjectivists" are intolerantly and
unilaterally trying to impose a "One True Glorantha" on everyone else, but the reverse danger seems altogether more real."

It does seem like that at times, especially when I try to tie mythic things together and have people who debate first age Dara Happan architecture tell me that I am wasting my time on things that are irrelevant. However, I would say that while Greg is at the helm that there will be confusion and contradiction to satisfy and those that enjoy it.

"Anyone defacing a copy of "Tarsh War", for example, will
get shafted by Yanafal Tarnils in person (or by a delegated spirit of reprisal, for small fry), sooner or later."

I always figured YT to have a beard, and I don't recall Chris having one...  :)
It would have been very entertaining to see the poor fool wither under Greg's damnation. Sorry I missed it.

Origins of Species

IIRC trolls, elfs, and dwarfs all have the same myth as to their creation, correct? Are there any of the above that *don't* believe that their race was created by KG, A, WM?

And yet, we have a number of origins for the human race. Magical evolution from beasts (Hsunchen), direct creation (Yelm, Orlanth?), and spontaneous creation (West). (Not sure on that last one). Is Grandfather Mortal (or appropriate facsimile) present in all of these myths?

One of my current pet projects is to tie the creation of humankind to the of the giants. I believe that the War between Dragon and Giant happened before the Golden Age (whichever you choose) and that dragonnewts appeared soon after. Could humanity be descended from a group of maimed giantkind, whose leader is now known as Grandfather Mortal?
