Hi all,

Do you want to frolic with killer whales, soar with eagles and generally have a great experience? Well, those of you who are coming to the (already marvelous) GloranthaCon V in Victoria now have a chance to have an even better time!.

The Seattle Farmer=92s Collective is offering a chance to visit some of t= he
Jewels of the Pacific Northwest, the San Juan Islands, with the once-in-a-lifetime chance to go kayaking with Orcas! Sound like fun, it should...

We=92re organising a post-con trip to the San Juan islands, a stunningly beautiful chain of Island midway between Vancouver Island and the mainland, home to resident pods of Orcas, seals, porpoises, bald eagles and some of the world=92s best sea kayaking. The trip leaves from Victor= ia
on the Monday after the con when we take a ferry to Orcas Island, there w= e
visit the marvelous Moran State Park and have sun-downers on top of Mount Constitution with a view of all the islands, Vancouver and the mainland.=20 After a night at Doe Bay we hop on the inter-island ferry to San Juan Island - site of the famous Pig War between England and the US (sole casualty - one pig). There we have the opportunity to take a kayak trip down to Lime Kiln point where there is an extremely good chance of gettin= g
to see Orcas, up close and personal... The west coast of San Juan Island is beautiful in its own right, with seals, bald eagles and marvelous scenery. After this we take a ferry over to the mainland and drive down to Seattle, or you can go back to Victoria.=20

At the moment I=92m just finding out how many people are interested in th= is
trip so if you could email me at pearton_at_u.washington.edu The cost is factoring out to be around $100, much less if you don=92t want to do the kayak trip. To those who=92ve never kayaked before, don=92t worry - thes= e are
very stable double kayaks and the pace and distance are not hard. You simply need to be relatively in-shape and not have a pathological fear of water. (If you're staying a little longer I might organise a white-water kayak trip for the adrenally impaired ;)

I apologise for the non-Gloranthan content of this message - I'll let you back to your regularly scheduled sobjectivity debate (which is getting to be one of the hall-of-famer's, right up there with Pantheon Initiation an= d
the Great Moose Debate).

Have fun,
Yak
