Furriness, number of opposed digits, gait, and general physique. The Telmori are aware that their two-legged specimen is indistinguishable from non-Telmori two-leg but for the spirit, and minor family traits, and the fact that other two-legs aren't subject to that curse.

>So it seems to me that either the

>the wolf-shaped Telmori are subject to the fertility cycles of humans.

That would mean that either wolf females are always ready to mate (though not always fertile), or that human females are ready to mate only a short period in the year. Neither sounds that good to me.

>I don't know enough about other hsunchen peoples to comment in detail,

You're not the first to say so.

They also seem to be lacking in a living species deity, which explains some of their troubles. At least in Prax; Basim seems to be healthier in either respect.

I see this as a general problem: are Hsunchen human, or just beast elves, in the same way mreli and vronkali are plant elves?

Given that practically everybody in Ralios has some Hsunchen ancestry, they seem to be humans biologically. If they weren't, special magics would have been necessary to make their trans-racial births possible. Compare horses and zebras in Pavis...

Unless you claim that by apostating from their ancestral hsunchen gods they change biologically into humans. No such spirit of reprisal is known....
