Absolutely! Just as a dog will go rushing off to greet another dog, so allied spirits have their own motivations, and they'll follow them unless they're kept firmly under control. And since dogs have their own unique personalities, why not spirits?

For a while, I NPC the ally: then, when I think the player's got a handle on their ally's character, I'll hand it over.
