First question: the system you described never worked in RW, why would =

Third question: Your system can easely lead to social engineering =
(remember Kubrik's Mechanical Orange movie). Does it happen?
Fourth question: a critical difference between Glorantha and our RW is = magic. I suppose that in such a system you could easely develop spells = to condition peoples behavior that could substitute for our RW poenas. =What do you think about it?
General comment - if you answer 'yes' to question one, three and four, = you get the kind of situation where a regime based on an igualitarian = and freedom ideology turns to opression and persecution of those it was = supposed to enlighten. Plenty of RW examples this century.

It 'just gives you a broo soul'? Sorry Sandy but this concept of a =
'soul' doesn't seem to me to fit very well wth Glorantha. In RW we speak =
about 'body', 'spirit' and 'soul'. In Glorahta we speak about 'divine', =
'spiritual' and 'mundane' manifestations and beings. The physical is the =
mundane.
The patern you depicted - when you relate succubus to rape - is a patern =
where mundane facts and behavior have spiritual impact: they change your =
spiritual self.
So rape can - in Gloranthan terms - turn you spiritualy into a broo (I =
plainly agree with the argument that the chance of this change to occur =
chould be small but grow with the frequence of rape). When it happens =
does it change you physicaly? I think yes. IMO in Glorantha physic and =
spirit are not separate. You are a whole both physicaly and spiritualy. =
If one chages, the other changes. (This has nothing to do with =
possession or undeads, situations where a spirit takes control of a body =
when they are two separate entities.) A mundane event - rape - changes =
your spirit. The other way chould also happen. Your spiritual change =
into a broo changes your mundane characteristics.
What this does NOT mean is that the mundane chage is apparent. You don't =
grow horns, charpe teeth, fangs, etc. Not unless you continue in that =
path of broodom: if you become wholehartedly a broo and keep acting like =
one, with time you will undergo those changes.

There is a very important aspect in your mundane characteristics that =
changes when you become a broo through rape, when you are no longer a =
man: REPRODUCTION. That is the key point here (that's why Thed and chaos =
are so pleased when a man follows this path). You are now a broo so you =
father broos. Through rape you must plant the seeds of a new broo =
community. Those little broos are just like any child. Aren't they so =
beautifull and perfect? Wait until they grow a little. See how they =
behave. What they do to other childs, they the most strong and bold. See =
what they start doing when they become - unusually soon - teenagers. Of =
course, within two generations they will look less and less like man and =
more and more like broos.
Because of this fact, IMO most cultures are totally aware of the =
rape/broo connection. Kill the rapist before he starts spreading his =
seeds. Kill the mother or practise abortion before the little devil is =
born. Kill the child before it grows into an age where he will kill you =
and take your wife and daughters...
The question is: why would a man, knowing this, rape the women of his =
enemies? Why risk becoming a broo? Two possible answers:
- - first, in Glorantha most men don't do it. You don't rape your enemy's =
women.
- - second, you do it only in the frenzy of total war and it is seen as a =
shameful act and you must clean your spirit after it. Maybe you will =
have to kill the greatest broo chieftain in your region; or you must =
discover and kill the person behind those rapes that happend in you clan =
or tribe. In other words, you have difficult path of adventure ahead =
before you can consider yourself clean again...
