Her Axe hidden with Hide Wealth won't do her a lot of good as an assassin, since she'll have to go back outside to dig it out of the ground. :)

Nope, definitely Luathela, per RQ Companion, reprinted in Tales.

I think it is criminal that I, of all people, could not remember this. Shame on me.

Pet peeve -- the one most coolest thing in the Dragon Pass history was the one thing Greg completely left out of King of Sartar -- the bit about how Sartar was born, it is said, "from the dew of dusk and the thew of an angel." I would dearly loved to see how _this_ fit into his mythos!

Actually, this is not true -- when I brought this problem up, Greg looked at me like I was stupid, and said that of course Tarkalor went across Prax to Teshnos. Makes for an interesting parallel with Argrath -- Tarkalor of Prax -- I can just see him riding a high llama!

Since Lee followed the ritual properly, posting this again without comment after no one responded the first time, I will respond.

Voriof seems to be a more or less universal Orlanthi deity, at least in the 3rd Age. He is said to have learned his arts from an older deity named Varnaval, who seems to be an Adonis-like figure -- eternally dying in the fall and being reborn in the Spring.

Note that Voriof is very clearly a direct cognate of the Praxian spirit called the Good Shepherd. So similar are they, that I believe many Orlanthi would also call Voriof the Good Shepherd.

IMO, he has no full cult, and like Barntar is more often worshiped as part of Ernalda's cult than Orlanth's. I believe that he is the source of some type of Resurrect ability for Ernalda, though the secret may now be lost.

I would give him lots of appropriate Spirit Magic, as discussed by me in a recent Digest. Since 99% of his "worshipers" are young boys, who soon abandon him for Orlanth (as is proper), he would not have much cult. Voria, his female counterpart, has a full cult only because of her worship among elves as well as among humans -- without that strengthening link, she would have little to offer either.

I once thought that the Iron Ram mentioned in GRoY, which was defeated after it destroyed one of the ancient Decapolis of Dara Happa, ought to be a foreign version of the Varnaval myth. Alas, it was not to be.

Note that Voriof is the god of herders more than of shepherds -- although in Dragon Pass and southern Peloria he would be most associated with sheep, I believe that in Esrolia he is the simple pigherd, and in Ralios he is probably the brave youth who watches the cows (but who also occasionally cried Telmor!).

The Sun in Vormain
I have seen some brief notes on the religion of Vormain, about doubling the info in Gods of Glorantha. Nothing in there mentions a Sun deity at all. However, since all of the deities of Vormain are supposedly celestial in nature, I would think that _Emperor_ Valzain would be the Sun. Unless he is Pole Star, and his Empress is the Sun.
