Telmori, EWF, Yinkin

Ralph Plowman poses some questions about Telmori.

The Telmori of Dragon Pass are definitely "Cursed" Telmori. As far as anyone can tell, the only Pure Telmori left in Genertela are in Dorastor. Thus, the Telmori of Dragon Pass can change into wolves using Telmor's magic, and are cursed to assume wolf-form every Wildday night.

Note that only in central Genertela does Wildday night fall on the night of the Full Moon. In Fronela, there are probably still some Telmori. And for them, Wildday night is NOT the night of the Full Moon. Consulting Nick Brooke's excellent analysis in Codex 1, this should be on Freezeday? Maybe Waterday, but my guess is Freezeday.

As for the Wolf-Brothers, they seem to be rare Telmori who are born with the ability to assume wolf form at will, without using Telmor's spells. Like all Cursed Telmori, they are also forced into wolf form on Wildday nights.

For my own reasons, I prefer to have about 1 in 7 Telmori of Cursed tribes born as werewolves.

Please also note that I think Telmori mythology remembers a time (in the Gods War) when all Telmori could turn into wolves at will, without having to sacrifice for and cast spells of any kind. Thus, many Cursed Tribes revere the werewolves among them, for they are indeed close to Telmor.

>that when the resources of the EWF had been thoroughly exhausted,
>the Grand Dragon would have awoken and brought about a new Golden
>Age.

Somehow, I find it difficult to believe that the draconized leaders of the EWF thought that the awakening of the Great Dragon would bring about a new Golden Age. Since when have dragons awakening brought anything but doom to humans? I think the leaders would have become dragons, and the rest of the world would have been what it always has been to dragons -- a nest, feeding ground, or distraction.

DUNCAN ROWLANDS asks:
With all the arguments going on about alynxes et al an old thought returned
to me; is there an established cult of Yinkin or an Alynxi hsunchen tribe?

My opinion is that there used to be, but that it is no longer known in Dragon Pass. Remnants of it still exist, and so all Yinkin initiates turn into cats at their initiation ceremony, and sometimes at other rituals later in life. I think that Yinkin's cult spells include Speak With Alynx as well as Identify Scent. And I know that the Yinkini fighting women were a terror in battle, probably as late as the Second Age.

Many Orlanthi tribes have a Yinkin clan, or at least a number of Yinkin families. These would all be remnants of the old Yinkin hsunchen people, IMO. But there is no Yinkin Tribe anymore, I certainly don't see enough references in the source material to support it.

That is all.
