Neat yes, secret no! While not something that gets stressed at "Welcome to the Seven Mothers!" induction classes, this is a recognised and acknowledged part of the Lunar Way. The _Empire_ as such, though, does tend to stress its Light aspects, and I think that's one of the things that some Lunar philosophers would admit was "broken" about it.

I think the Moonies aren't remotely a unified movement, either politically or philosophically. All they have in common, at bottom, is that they place the Lunar Way above the Empire, and are prepared to carp loudly about the fact. Exactly _what_ they see as advancing the Way, and what reasons they might have to be less than completely supportive of the Lunar Empire are two thoroughly open-ended matters. So there's no consistent answer to the abive question, or to most others you might ask them.
To generalise over some obvious Focus Groups, though:
o Peaceniks and Neo-Solars want it all white. (So do the Mostali, who certainly aren't part of the WM movement. Of course, they also want it to _move_...) o Fully paid-up Sedenyists who believe that the Empire is off the rails, or has just outlived its usefulness, recognise that Her cycle is eternal, and that the transformation from Red to White is just the next part of a larger cycle. So they realise the dark side is always there, in one form or another. o Illuminants of an Ascetic slant realise it all just a superficial difficulty of appearances in any event.
