day and night

Hi all

+day and night

Sergio asked a question about the night in Glorantha.

The difference between day and night is wether the sun dome gives light or not.
Orlanth killed the sun but did not kill Yelmalio. A cloudy day (when the sky is filled by clouds) is not nighttime even if the shining orb is not visible.
The first night began when Zorack Zoran wounded Yelmalio, Xentha could invade the sky and escape the invasion of Hell by Yelm. Xentha is indeed a darkness goddess, and dehori travel with her during the night.

The fact that Zorack Zoran did not manage to kill Yelmalio means that you can see a fire from a great distance at night (or in dark season) but that its heat vanishes after a few meters.

+Thed and Thanatar holy days

Thed is very popular among broos, so to know her holy days a wind lord or a storm khan has to catch a broo and ask it the question. A sage with mindread ,truthspeak and translate may be helpful, in case the broo does not want to cooperate.

Thanatar is more secretive. IMO even rune levels of a chaotic gods don't know if a Thanatari complex exists in the region. A storm khan can travel to Than Ulbar, and get the answer, but he may not escape to tell it to others.
IMO a wind lord knows the name of Thanatar (he is an enemy god), but he doesn't know much more about this cult.

+mad head ghosts

The Tien cultists create slave heads with their spell create head. The soul of the victim is trapped into his head. Eventually the victim will go mad and become a mad head ghost. The same thing happens if the caster dies.
The mad head ghosts are ghosts, who hover around their head. They are used by the Thanatari as guards for their temples. They have the same powers as other ghosts.

Now I think that the Thanatari use the freshly decapited bodies to create headhangers. It explains why those monsters hunt for others' heads, they seek to reunite their body with their head.

Peace
