Hello, i'm french, and i've never learned english at school, so excuse my style.
I write today to know the official point of view of the chaosium staff, and from everyone interested in runequest glorantha world, concerning the question of finding old gloranthan products. Having spend some money and time to purchase the french Oriflam production, and others non translated products, i have no possibility to find good old stuff like rubble and pavis. So i write a message to you, asking about reprinting and the answers were not logical to me. So, let us consider a few points, who will not express the whole world situation, but the french one, and i suppose many countries to.
  1. 95% of gamers make photocopies of 2nd edition products in France, not because they are thieves or just trying to spend few bucks, but because these products are impossible to purchase. First, nobody sell on the market, even at high level price, and they cant purchase on the web, where the offers are very difficult to locate too.
  2. anybody can see on the web that the specialist shop (Titan, Dragon Sleep) are considering Runequest products to be the most expensives, above ADD and any RPG today. If a few people can spend 20$ to have Duck Tower, young gamers, students like me cant afford it, when they have the chance to locate them... so photocopy is going to conquer the whole french Runequest fans.

3 If shops have big rate, if a lot of gamers are searching, that enough reason to have a look on the reprinting option, even if the relations between Chaosium and the Wargame House are not so good. So, i would like to know your advice on 3 points

First, what about photocopy of really rare material, natural thing or not? What about the prices politic of shops? Good to pay 150$ for a Pavis box? (ok for collector value, but the fans are tired to miss a lot of subjects here... cause they dont have the material to understand, and it's the right of anybody to become a Runequest specialist yes or no?)

Second. why not publishing some old material on line, like TSR for old modules? If AH and Chaosium agree, i would prefer to discover it online, instead of photocopying... specially if reprinting option is impossible...

Three I cant imagine that the Rq staff will just answer that he had nothing to do with the problem, if the Gloranthan future game will be great, it's because he mix a lot of creations and traditions for more than 20 years of imagination and fantasy. If rejuvenation will come, it's part due to young people, new gamers, who will desire to know the whole story of the game, the famous adventures, etc... so the entire list of product... Before creating the new game, that any fan is expecting, why not giving to each member of the gloranthan nation the chance to have the same line of product, the same knowledge, and the same opportunity to continue the dialog?
reading about informations you dont have (Big Rubble canal in this Digest for instance) is frustrating...so, you see what i mean... a new game is created, give to anyone egal knowledge of the past....reprinting, giving online stuff, any good solution will be great for many players, not the richest, not the oldest, but fans too..
thanks a lot
excuse my style
