It's for Mr Rick Meints very classical to see young gamers speaking about
RQ2 material, but everybody here, especially the young gamers can see two
facts.
1: If Mr Meints is so sure of the usefulness of the RQ2 products, why did he
purchase all this stuff for more than ten years? it's very easy to speak
about things that he doesn't master at all, especially when you have the
good books and box at home. Anybody can find plenty of examples in this
digest of the so called nonsense products, but Mr Rick had already all the
answers, so he doesn't care of others (please, can you explain to me the
subject concerning the Canal in Big Rubble, or the question about the
devil's playground (example of chaotic cult...) who take place here for
example)
I have just one word, without any agressive tendency: please Mr Meints, let
the young gamers and myself chose what is important or not in Runequest,
especially when these points are developped here!
2: the same attitude of collector guys can be found in the ADD world, where I'm myself a mister suitcase. The only difference is that i understand the desire ouf young gamers to find old material, and i have not any will to rest a member of "the happy few" who can claim to have a very good state first edition book or box. The difference is that ADD world offer plenty of products, and not only a auction twice a year where all the prices are higher than everything else in RPG world. The second point is quite simple, Mr Meints know nothing about the european marquet, beeng american (Mobile) and we must understand that the european market is totally different. No sells, no auctions, no products, and many problems to purchase the last Chaosium products (for instance, the two shops who specialise in Paris in old Material have selled this year only one RQ2, the original box...) Its not alway's a question of $, and 8% of the french public has acces to the web... So, think about that before giving any jugement on the subject
Concerning my position, i've just said that TSR give some material on the
web, but i agree with the position of Mr Olivier Peeters concerning the
reprinting or web selling option. I will just say that almost 80% of the RQ2
products in france are photocopy, and even if i disagree with this attitude,
i understand these people, the great majority willing to buy any
reprinting... I dont like the collector option, who consider any reprinting
as a loss of original product value, and will die to rest the one who can
say: i've collected for 10 years. Nonsense and egoistic point of view, not
the one of a so called RQ fan. Looking at my post, i can tell that almost
90% of the people here consider my position as normal and courageous,
especially europeans...
We can pay a just price for old stuff, just be logic
excuse my style, i'm better in German and Italian
Bonjour de France
