_Women Warriors_ by David Jones lists Ayesha, (the youngest wife of Mohammed), Khawlah Bint al-Kindiyyah, Adelaide of Susa, Princess Turfkan Khatun, Queen Melisende, and, in the 19th century Lady Hester Stanhope, the emir of Mar Elias. (Ok, the last two are not Islamic.)

There are also a couple of dozen women discussed in Western Europe and the British Isles. Many of these are from the 15th to 18th century, but are interesting anyway.
